Cheap car insurance won't be affected by number plates

Sometimes you can pay a fortune for the right number plate and sometimes you're just lucky. This year, the DVLA is planning to ban a set of number plates before drivers can get their hands on the new 57 registration.

There was a time when people would spend massive amounts of cheap car insurance savings on number plates that represented them and their car but this time round the DVLA wants to make sure that nobody ends up with an embarrassing registration.

The cause for concern is apparently down to the new registration numbers 5 and 7, which according to officials could be used to represent the letters S and T or maybe even Y.

Some of the plates that could possibly be banned include H057 AGE (Hostage), EC57ASY (Ecstasy) and for all you woman car insurance enthusiasts out there, EA57 GAL (Easy Gal).

Despite the DVLA's best efforts to minimize embarrassment for drivers, the Association of British Drivers said, "The DVLA should be setting their priories on more worthwhile issues - like reviewing safety."

However, if you do end up with such an amusing and unique number plate, there is absolutely no need to worry that it could have any negative effect on your cheap car insurance policy.
