No chance of cheap car insurance on boy's favourite racer

The recklessness of Britain's boy racers has made it impossible for most Subaru owners to find a cheap car insurance deal, according to new research.

The falling value of early model Subaru Imprezas on the used car market (typically just £1500 at today's prices) has made the 220bhp car a favourite among cast-strapped young motorheads - and a motor insurance firm's worst nightmare.

Many insurers are refusing to cover 'Scoobies', as the Imprezas are known, under any circumstances. Of the remainder, most insist drivers are aged at least 25 before taking them on.

Cheap car insurance is also out of the question for the boy racers themselves - who regularly pay upwards of £3,000 a year for the privilege of driving their favourite motor.
