Unprotected NCD could affect car insurance quotes

UK drivers who fail to protect their no claims discount could lose up to £7.7 million, according to car insurance quote website uSwitch.

The price comparison website has said that motorists who fail to take out protection on their NCDs could see a rise in their motor insurance premiums should they be involved in an accident.

In reality, if a driver was to make a claim on their car insurance policy for an accident, they could lose all the NCD that they have accrued and be forced to start from scratch again.

Ashton Berkhauer, insurance expert at uSwitch.com, said: "No claims bonus protection plays a really important role as it covers motorists against premium hikes when they make a claim.

"As the cost of claims continues to rise, insurers will increase premiums to cover their costs."

With their cheap motor insurance at risk, motorists have been advised to take out protection on their NCD or they could be in for a surprise the next time they apply for a car insurance quote.
