Autotrader finds drivers would do anything for no claims
More than 50 percent of UK drivers regularly choose not to make a motor insurance claim for the sake of their no claims discount according to http://www.autotrader.co.uk.
The website, which offers online car insurance and car loans besides used car trading services, asked 4,500 motorists what they would do following a crash or theft.
Of the 55 percent with five years' no claims or more, many said they would avoid contacting an insurer for the sake of their valuable car insurance discount. Just 29 percent of respondents said they had ever made a claim in the past.
"It's an odd situation where people are scared to make a legitimate claim following an accident," said a spokesman for the online car insurance specialists at Hoot Car Insurance Services.
"In some cases, the value of your no claims discount can actually exceed the value of your car," he added.
