Cheap car insurance news 09/11/2007
Handheld mobiles cost policy holdersAn spokesperson from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) warned that drivers who crash while using mobile telephones could face not only strict fines and license penalties but that they could also be doing considerable damage to their chances of receiving cheap car insurance. Speaking on the subject of cheap car insurance, she said that drivers could face "major financial problems." Elaborating, she commented that mobile telephone use while driving could, "impact on claims made under your policy to your own vehicle, as you are expected to take reasonable care." She added further warning that this problem was widespread, saying that a "sizeable" proportion of UK drivers flouted the law on mobile use while driving. Current UK law penalises drivers who are caught phoning and driving with a three point penalty their licenses as well as a £60 fine. The spokesperson also warned that motorists who crash whilst on the phone may not be able to claim on their motor insurance policies. "If your policy cover is invalid in the event of a claim you make under your own policy. it could place you with major financial problems as you'd have to meet the cost of repairs or replacement yourself."
