Speed warning for motorists who may have insurance

Police officers in Frome , in Somerset, have declared their intention to stop novice motorists, including those with young drivers insurance, from acting without due care and attention while behind the wheel.

As part of Operation Fluid, officers have monitored vehicles in the town centre, Wessex Fields, and Marston Trading Estate and stopped a number of motorists who were deemed to be posing a danger, 11 of whom were aged between 17 and 24.

The police seized four vehicles which were found to have illegal window tints, unsafe bumpers, faulty lights, and in one instance an overly loud exhaust. Furthermore, one driver was fined for failing to wear a seat belt, a crime which the providers of young drivers car insurance take particularly seriously.

A representative of the Avon and Somerset Constabulary said, "This enforcement action sent a positive message to those engaged in anti-social driver behaviour that police will carry out stop checks and will not tolerate illegal driving or vehicles. Similar initiatives will continue to encourage safer driving and reduce road casualties."

Drivers who are keen to keep the costs of young drivers insurance to a minimum have been advised to observe the speed limit at all times and resist the temptation to modify their cars.
