Cheap car insurance news 08/11/2007
Sorry not always a good ideaHoot, the cheap car insurance provider, reports on a new study which has revealed that most UK motorists would say sorry following a road accident. What many people do not realise is that their politeness could potentially jeopardise their cheap car insurance premiums by being considered an admission of liability. The study, commissioned by esure, found that 75% of UK drivers admit that they would apologise, an action which several online car insurance specialists strongly discourage. A spokesperson for Hoot Car Insurance Services explains, "While, it no doubt goes against the natural instincts of most of our car insurance customers, we would advise that if they are in any doubt at all, they hold off making an apology at the accident scene. "It is best to be business-like, take other drivers' details, take photographs and, where possible, get witness statements." Surely advice that is well worth heeding, especially by those 30% of motorists who say they would forget to take any pictures of the accident scene. Amazingly, 7% of participants in the study said that they would forget to exchange details with the other driver involved, something we strongly advise all our cheap car insurance customers to do.
