Research could affect cheap car insurance premiums

Research has found that motorists aren't doing their homework before shopping for a brand new car and it could be costing them their cheap car insurance.

As millions of car insurance customers rush out to buy the new 57 number plate, esure, the online motor insurance provider, has warned motorists to carry out research before signing on the dotted line.

Esure found that only 65% of UK drivers said they would get an online motor insurance quote before snapping up a new vehicle, whilst 43% would fail to check up on the car insurance grouping of the car.

A spokesperson for Hoot Car Insurance Services, the young driver car insurance experts said: "Motorists should really have a look online first and get a cheap car insurance quote for the particular model they're interested in. Otherwise, they could be faced with having to pay a higher premium."
