Students produce hard hitting motoring videos

A group of young people, including some who are eligible for student car insurance, recently produced a series of road safety videos, designed to raise awareness of the Drive for Life campaign.

The clips will be put to use by the South Yorkshire Police during seminars at various establishments of higher education. They are likely to have a significant impact, particularly as they're based on real life events.

A spokesperson for Drive for Life said, "Young drivers represent about 7% of the driving population but are involved in approximately 32% of fatal collisions.

"We've run the Drive for Life event for the last four years and whilst we've had some excellent feedback we felt that we wanted to add a new section, focusing on road traffic collisions that had happened locally."

It is thought that the youngsters who watch these videos will be dissuaded from acting irresponsibly, and putting their young persons car insurance no claims records at risk.

This prediction may come as some relief to parents who recently stated their belief that many of the UK's young drivers have contravened the national road laws.

In related news, fire-fighters from North West England have joined forces with the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety to launch a potentially life-saving campaign in the Ribble Valley district. The initiative is intended to highlight the risks of dangerous driving.

Those drivers who fail to heed the safe driving advice may be subject to large fines and increased student car insurance premiums.
