Young drivers insurance customers might be among those in agreement with the Association of British Drivers (ABD), that a law should be imposed meaning that drivers who fail to maintain a reasonable speed should pull over and let other vehicles pass.
The ABD‘s demand was made after Confused.com, a price comparison website, reported that the majority of drivers found slow traffic to be a severe cause of irritation.
A cheap car insurance expert said, "Slow drivers need to be taken as seriously as motorists caught speeding. Findings confirm they are a constant source of anxiety on UK roads and responsible for a large amount of accidents each year.
"We support the introduction of a programme of measures to eliminate this hazard as our research has highlighted that excessively slow driving is a real problem."
Although the ABD did not agree that minimum speed limits should be imposed, it did say that there would be far less stress on the roads if everybody abided by suggested speeds.
A spokesperson for the non-profit organisation said, "Unfortunately there will always be those who wish to travel either dangerously fast or far too slow – causing congestion and prompting rash behaviour."
People who are overly cautious when behind the wheel have been encouraged to take an advanced driving course. With further tuition they may become more confident and stand a greater chance of obtaining affordable young drivers insurance.
