Car insurance companies hear some crazy things
Car insurance claims can be crazy as car insurance provider Elephant.co.uk has revealed.
Naked pedestrians, decomposing carrots and shampoo have all been cited as reasons for car accidents and vehicle damage by car insurance customers.
In one damage claim, the driver alleged that a naked person leapt onto the bonnet of the car, jumped onto the roof, bounced up and down, then ran away.
The carrot claim came after the driver hit a pile of rotting carrots, skidded and lost control of his vehicle, whilst the shampoo incident occurred after the female driver mistook shampoo for a petrol container and filled her tank with it.
Windscreen damage has also allegedly been caused by a squirrel throwing a nut from a tree, and by a Harrier jet that crash landed close to a vehicle, melting the car windscreen when it burst into flames.
A wide range of damage claims have arisen from animal interaction including rowdy camels kicking cars at a garden centre; whilst another vehicle suffered when a horse decided to take a rest and sat on the bonnet causing front end damage.
A Hoot spokesperson commented, "These car insurance claims may sound amusing, but the financial implications are just the same as in a road traffic accident."
