New buyers face expensive car insurance

With the Government's new scrappage scheme offering motorists £2000 in exchange for their old cars coupled with huge reductions at car dealerships, now seems the right time to buy a new car. However, car insurance firm Swinton has warned buyers to get a quote on a new set of wheels before making a purchase otherwise they could end up spending more on their young drivers car insurance than originally planned.

Insurer Development Manager at Swinton, Steve Chelton said, "It's tempting with all the incentives being offered to buy a brand new or higher spec vehicle but it is vital that motorists do their maths before making a purchase."

Buyers could find that their new car may fall into a higher tax and insurance bracket meaning that what looks like a good deal, could prove costly in the long run.

A car insurance expert from Hoot gave this advice, "To safeguard your cheap student car insurance, make sure you get a cheap car insurance quote on it before you buy; most brokers just need the car's make and model to give you a quote."
