Teenager banned from driving and fined
A student car insurance court case led to a young driver being banned from the road for six weeks with fines and costs to pay of £90.
The young man from Lincolnshire was aged 18. He needed to use the car to drive to school to take an A-level examination.
He said he was sorry for committing the driving offence - but the court still decided to punish him. Court staff suggested the best action was to ban him from driving for six weeks.
If points were added to his licence he would have been required to re-take his driving test because the law would have changed his licence back to a provisional, learner driver one.
The LL1LL case heard that the teenager lived in a village a long way from town and that he was no longer eligible for school public transport - but he needed a car to complete his studies.
