Royal Mail to phase out personal vehicles

As part of Royal Mail's relentless drive towards modernisation it is to respond to concerns regarding its workers using their own vehicles for work practices - despite many not having the appropriate UK car insurance cover - by completely stamping out the use of its employee's personal vehicles during shift hours.

Just last year, following concern from UK car insurance companies that many Royal Mail employees would not be covered in the event of an accident, Royal Mail instructed all its employees to ensure that they had suitable cover.

However, this initiative does not appear to provoked an adequate response, so over the next three years the practice will be phased out altogether, something which will ultimately result in only company cars with the correct workplace motor insurance being driven by Royal Mail's workers during their shift hours.
