It drives like a tank, handles like an ocean liner and looks like a door-wedge. And with a minimum 2.0 litre engine size, it costs a small fortune in car insurance for young drivers.
But in spite of this, young driver car insurance firms are seeing a surge in motor insurance quote requests for the Volvo Estate from their more hormonal customers.
That's because the Volvo - undisputed king of family cars from the days before Chelsea tractors and their ilk - has recently been voted number 1 in a poll of the best back seats for love making.
Respondents to the yesinsurance.co.uk survey, 68 percent of whom admitted they had tried it in a car, said the extra boot space in a Volvo made all the difference when one thing lead to another.
The roomy estate is also one of the least likely to sustain damage during a romantic episode.
As many as six percent of those surveyed said their enthusiasm lead to broken car parts in the past - but only one in 100 of that six percent was plucky enough to make a car insurance claim for repairs.
Mike Page, Hoot spokesperson and an expert in the field of car insurance for young drivers, said: "I'm disappointed to see the VW Camper only made it to third, but I wouldn't like to say why."
