Cheap car insurance most at risk on Wednesdays

Research by Accident Exchange has revealed the latest threat to cheap car insurance: Wednesdays.

According to the accident management company, Wednesday is the day of the week drivers are most likely to be involved in a crash while out and about on the roads.

The study examined 30,000 accidents from 2006 and found that 17.8% occurred on Wednesdays - significantly more compared to 15.8% on Fridays. Weekends saw the fewest number of accidents, with just 8.9% of crashes happening on Sundays.

Whilst these accidents are unlikely to have motor insurance companies asking drivers about their daily driving habits, it is something that motorists may find useful to bear in mind if they want to safeguard their cheap car insurance.

A spokesperson for the Association of British Drivers attributed the higher accident rate to distraction that comes with a possible mid-week depression or thoughts of the upcoming weekend or the one that has just gone.
