Pass Plus could mean cheaper young driver car insurance

Drivers in Cumbria could get even cheaper premiums on their young driver car insurance after 100 people signed up to take the Pass Plus course.

The new drivers were given vouchers by Cumbria Road Safety Partnership in a bid to cut down on the number of people involved in serious road accidents each year.

Each voucher will pay £60 towards the total cost of the six courses, which will amount to £130. Once passed, may well be able to get their money back through discounts on their motor insurance.

A Carlisle MP commented on the initiative, saying, "Pass Plus is a good scheme and I would recommend it to all novice and young drivers.

"It is one of the ways we can hopefully reduce the terrible toll of deaths and serious injuries to new drivers."

A spokesperson for Hoot Car Insurance Services, the cheap car insurance provider, also had this to say, "The Pass Plus scheme is a great way to get new drivers to better their road skills. Once they've passed, they could even find their young driver car insurance premiums have dropped."
