Young driver insurance rates can be made cheaper by taking extra driving tuition such as a Pass Plus course, but free courses are sometimes available through your local authority that will provide driving experience to help young drivers become safer road users.
Students attending Pembrokeshire College are being offered just such an opportunity by the Go For It driving academy.
The course is being run on-site by two local members of the Institute of Advanced Motorists who have amassed 30 years of advanced driving skills between them as advanced police and fire service drivers.
One of the two instructors said, "The course is free to students and is there to help students through five phases of learning including the Highway Code and the theory and hazard perception tests."
At least one insurer has agreed to offer a 10% reduction on young driver car insurance to Pembrokeshire College students who complete the Go For It course.
