Car insurance costs reduced with Pass Plus course
A Scottish safety group initiative to help young driver car insurance buyers will see them pay new drivers to take a Pass Plus training course.
In a bid to cut car accidents on the region's roads the Fraserburgh and District Community Safety Group has agreed to pay £100 to any local inexperienced driver who wants to take the Pass Plus training which normally costs around £150.
Statistics show that in Aberdeenshire one third of all road traffic accidents involves a young or inexperienced driver. Drivers aged 17-20 years-of-age are six times more likely than a 40 year-old driver to be involved in a car accident.
Councillor Brian Topping, chairman of the community safety group, said, "Last year we paid for four people to take the course, and they all found it hugely beneficial.
"As a result, we will find funding for all people in the area aged between 17 and 25 who wish to take it this year."
The councillor added that the aim of the initiative was to help young people to become better drivers and he acknowledged that the completed course could help reduce young driver car insurance costs.
