Young driver car insurance holders should use garage

Young driver car insurance holders could find that they are eligible for cheaper insurance if they park their car in a garage, but recent research by insurer Aviva has shown that two thirds of families in the UK cannot use their garage because it is too full of clutter.

Although 41% of the drivers who were surveyed this September stated that they were concerned about vehicle crime such as break-in, vandalism or car theft, many motorists do not clear their garage out more than once a year and others confessed to never having cleaned out their garage.

In some families, where parents would be happy to give up the garage to help lower their child's motoring costs, this could mean that a new road user with insurance for young drivers ends up paying more for their annual premium than needed since the garage is unusable.

Claiming that a vehicle is kept in a garage when it is in fact parked on a driveway or kerb-side could lead to the cover being invalidated if the vehicle is damaged.

Aviva's director of marketing stated, "We understand that householders are busy, but if they gave their garage a bit of a clear-out once in a while and parked one or more of their cars in it, they would have the peace of mind that one of their most valuable possessions is being fully protected, and they are likely to save on their car insurance too."

Anyone with young driver car insurance who wants to receive cheaper cover and whose family has a garage, may want to spend some time cleaning out the clutter so that their car can be parked inside it safety during the night.
