Dangerous driving by a young UK motorist led to a horrific high-speed smash and the death of a friend, prompting serious warnings from police and a young driver car insurance company.
A court was told a 23-year-old man was killed when the Honda Civic he was a passenger in raced to the brow of a hill at nearly 90 mph.
As the car went over the hill on a 60 mph-limit road, an oncoming car forced the Honda driver to brake hard. Unfortunately, the car lost control and crashed into two walls before hitting a Volvo near a pub.
Police condemned the young driver for recklessness and irresponsibility, warning that dangerous driving by young people can have fatal consequences.
The family of the Lancashire man killed in the crash called for more responsible driving from young drivers.
They said they hoped that their pain and suffering losing a loved relative would serve as an important reminder for young car drivers to think about bad driving and be more careful on the road.
Hoot Car Insurance Services, an online car insurance company, was also concerned and worried about such a tragic road accident.
A spokesperson for Hoot, a young driver car insurance specialist firm, said: "Sometimes young people might get carried away, driving fast while not concentrating on hazards ahead. We must urge young people to take more care and think about how to drive more safely."
