Young driver car cover more competitive at Hoot

Cheaper young driver car insurance is proving elusive for teenagers and men in their 20s after a new study has shown they must pay over 40 per cent more than older motorists.

Average motor insurance quotes for men over 30 is a little more than £260 while for young male drivers it was £370 - from a survey of about 12 million quotes.

Industry experts say this is because young motorists have been seen as a high risk for many years.

Tips to reduce the premium include locating specialist insurers - such as Hoot Car Insurance Services - that target young drivers, as well as asking parents to be named on the policy.

A Hoot spokesperson said the analysis - produced by comparison site moneysupermarket - highlighted the importance of shopping around to find specialist car insurance companies.

"It is not easy to find competitive quotes for young driver car insurance - but this moneysupermarket report proves Hoot is worth contacting for a quote," he said.
