Online young driver car insurance customers have been warned to be extra careful when filling out their details in online applications.
This is because a car insurance company may invalidate a policy in the event a policyholder makes a claim but is found to have earlier provided inaccurate details about his or her age, job, address, driving history or identity.
Motor insurance quote expert Think Money issued the advice after becoming concerned that some car insurance customers might not be giving their full attention to online application forms.
"Insurance companies expect the motorist to use their vehicle as stated on the policy, so any incorrect details could effectively leave them uninsured. It's also illegal to provide false information, so policyholders really need to make sure the details are correct," said a Think Money spokesperson.
"It's easy to make mistakes when filling in forms online, and with something as important as insurance, it`s essential that any mistakes are corrected. Motorists who are unsure about entering their details online could speak directly with an independent insurance adviser, who could help them find the right deal over the phone or face-to-face," he added.
