Insurance at festivals may not cover theft of valuables
The summer music festivals are upon us and many young driver insurance buyers will be taking their cars to the fields of England, so that they can stand in three inches of mud and listen to Keane, Kasabian or the Killers. However, warnings are being issued over leaving valuables in cars. According to uSwitch.com with around 60% of insurance providers the provision for stolen vehicle contents is only £100 and that is for everything, not per item stolen. So, if you leave a camera, a phone, an i-pod, sat-nav, and designer sunglasses in your car and return to find them gone, you will not only lose your no-claim bonus if you have to claim, but you won't get anywhere near enough money back to replace all the items. A spokesperson for Hoot advised, "Leaving valuables in your car or an unlocked tent is not a great idea as your car and home insurance will not cover them automatically. "The best advice is to leave them at home, but if you have to take items with you, speak to your young driver insurance provider and make sure you have adequate insurance for the value of your items."
