A newly released report has highlighted that drivers, including those with young driver insurance, don't enjoy being on the roads of Slough.
The Berkshire locality, mentioned in the poetry of Sir John Betjeman, was ranked 61st out of 65 on a list of driver-friendly towns. Motorists also pointed out that Manchester and Cardiff had particularly poor parking facilities and high car crime rates.
Virgin Money revealed that its survey respondents voted London as the area with the worst driving conditions last year. The dubious honour has been given to Reading this time around.
Grant Bather, representative of Virgin Money, said, "The cost of petrol has risen by almost 20 per cent over the past year due to VAT and fuel duty increases, and combined with the constant issue of parking problems, speeding tickets and vehicle crime, the UK's 24 million drivers can be forgiven for feeling as though they need to steer clear of urban areas."
Student car insurance holders who live in the North West might be best off gaining some much needed experience on the roads of St Helens. The Merseyside town came top of the car-friendliness rankings for the second year running.
Providers of young driver insurance may take a particularly positive view of drivers in Telford. The West Midlands town has consistently been ranked among the most vehicle-friendly areas.
