Car insurance for cheap cars and car safety protection
Norwich Union survey results show that cheap cars and young driver's car insurance may seem like a good idea, but that low cost vehicles may be more risky in the event of an accident.
The car insurance company say that over 50 per cent of drivers under 21-years of age spend less than £500 on their first car, but a car in that price range is far more of a risk as it may not have adequate safety systems such as airbags and ABS (anti-lock brake system).
Shockingly, the Norwich Union, research reveals that young drivers are twice as likely to be hurt in a ten-year-old car that is involved in a car accident than in a new car.
A Norwich Union spokesperson, Nigel Bartram, advised parents "to do everything they can to give their children the best possible chance of staying in one piece on the nation's roads".
He suggested that parents should ensure their children purchased safe, road worthy cars.
A spokesperson for Hoot Car Insurance said, "We provide young driver's car insurance at a really competitive price. We hope our cheap insurance quotes will enable our customers to spend more on their vehicle and purchase as safe a model as they can possibly afford."
