Top Gear presenter smashes truck into wall
The perils of being involved in a road accident - and the need for young drivers car insurance - have been highlighted after Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson was hurt in a truck smash.
In a high-speed stunt, Clarkson drove a Renault Magnum lorry through a brick wall, causing agonising injuries that left him unable to walk.
He decided to do the stunt because he believed everyone should experience a crash into a wall, so motorists, especially young drivers, would know that "crashes really, really hurt and that it would be a good idea to not have one."
The crash left Clarkson with painful injuries including a crushed finger and serious bruising to his back and one leg.
He warned teenagers to be wary about big movies where the good guys drive into walls and other vehicles and then just jump out afterwards to fight the baddies.
He said, "This isn't accurate. I emerged from my high speed head-on impact in what can only be described as screaming agony. I couldn't walk. I couldn't talk. I couldn't think. Everyone should experience this before they are given a licence."

The wall crash highlighted that when thinking about car insurance, young drivers need to consider the importance of adequate cover for medical expenses as well as repair costs.
