Young drivers car insurance holders stressed by traffic jams

Motorists in the UK, including some young drivers car insurance holders in employment, are reportedly wasting a total of 123 million working hours every year by waiting in traffic jams, according to a car insurance company.

Not only is this costing Britain's economy £752 million annually, but it also means that drivers' fuel is being used up while their vehicle is stationary and consequently costing them money.

There are two ways in which road users can reduce the impact of this problem. If the road congestion has brought traffic to a standstill, they can turn off their engine while they wait to get moving again. Alternatively, if they are low mileage drivers, they could get a telematics car insurance policy which saves them money on cover and therefore means that they may have more money to spare for purchasing fuel.

Motorists looking for new driver car insurance, whether or not they use their car to get to work in the mornings, might find that a telematics-based policy will help them reduce the cost of their annual premium.

As 12% of drivers are having to extend the amount of time they spend at work to avoid busy periods in the morning and evening, and 19% arriving for work stressed because of their difficult journey, for some road users finding cheaper car insurance may at least be a way of easing the financial strain of motoring.
