Pass Plus can help young drivers cut motor cover premiums

Young motorists are being advised to sign up for a training scheme designed to improve skill and safety on the road to keep down the cost of young drivers insurance.

The Pass Plus training course is designed to help new drivers better tackle hazards and situations that occur on UK roads.

While it costs £150 to participate in the course, average savings on car insurance have been found to total more than £350.

The advice comes after research by leading British consumer motoring organisation, the AA, found that average quotes for motor cover have risen by 11 per cent in the past year.

To save money, motorists are recommended to check prices and shop around rather than accept renewal premiums offered by their current insurers.

The UK's average quote is now £778, a rise of £79, although young drivers insurance costs are usually much higher.
