Young drivers' insurance could potentially be affected if they fly the St George's Cross from their cars, according to Marks and Spencer Financial Services.
With nearly one-quarter of men and slightly more than one-fifth of women saying that they plan to fly the flag at some point during the World Cup, young drivers insurance experts have warned that the placement of the flag can sometimes prove to be a significant distraction and may even result in a car accident.
However, with only 43% of motorists recognising this distraction, there are concerns that some accidents could ensue.
A spokesperson from Marks and Spencer Financial Services comments, "Many motorists and their families will be keen to demonstrate their support for England by placing a flag on their car. While it can be a popular way for fans to show their support, we are asking motorists to be aware of the safety issues to ensure they avoid any unnecessary accidents on the road."
So far this World Cup, with two draws from two matches, including one against minnows Algeria, England have performed below expectations, in the process disappointing many young drivers insurance customers.
