A 17-year-old from Scarborough put more than his cheap young driver car insurance premium at risk when he started doing handbrake turns in a short stay car park.
Having already issued him a police warning back in May 2006, officers seized the boy's Peugeot 106 in the hope of putting an end to such antisocial behaviour.
The lad's mistake was choosing a car park close enough to Whitby police station for officers to hear the screeching of tyres.
He will pay a minimum of £105 to recover the vehicle. The fine will rise by an additional £12 for every day it spends unclaimed in police lock-up.
Mike Page, spokesman for the young driver car insurance champs at Hoot, commented: "£105 is a pretty steep figure for a 17-year-old to have to come up with - especially when you consider how much his motor insurance premiums must be costing.
