Britain's biggest insurer Aviva has announced it's launching an online car insurance service in the booming Polish economy.
Bosses at the firm, which currently offers home and life insurance in Poland, reckon the market for cheap car insurance there will double in the next 10 years to the region of £4 billion annually.
"It's a bet on the future," said the group's executive director. "The economy [in Poland] is growing very strongly, disposable income is growing fast and people own more cars.
"Direct business takes a while to develop but when it takes off it's very sudden and strong. We believe it will happen in Poland," he added.
There's no doubt that the online car insurance business in Poland will be a lucrative one, even as things stand today. Currently some 43 percent of the population own their own cars, as opposed to a more modest 32 percent in the UK.
