Motor insurance news 26/06/2007
CIS tops the 'green' providers, says online car insurance siteCIS is the first insurer to offer eco-friendly motor insurance at a competitive price, according to online car insurance comparison site moneysupermarket.com. On the one hand, their policies offset 20 percent of customers' CO2 emissions through investment in reforestation, renewable energy sources and educational projects in the third world. On the other, CIS is offering a 10 percent premium discount to owners of the least polluting cars (road tax band A), and their rates are appreciably cheaper than ibuyeco.co.uk (a recently launched online car insurance firm) and More Than, the other 'green' providers. "In March (2007), I called on insurers to make green premiums more competitive . our research shows CIS has taken this on board with very competitive premiums," said the director of insurance at moneysupermaarket.com. "It would be tremendous if ibuyeco and More Than followed suit," he added.
