Latest merger could boost sales of online car insurancePrice comparison websites BeatThatQuote.com and energyhelpline.com have announced they are joining forces. The resulting merged business, to be called 'moneyhelpline.com', will be able to offer a broad portfolio of services drawn from each of the two parent companies: including online car insurance; gas and electricity suppliers; and financial products such as credit cards. Both companies have had their share of individual success in the lead up to the merger. In 2006, BeatThatQuote.com was voted the 'Young Company of the Year' at the Growing Business Awards, and it has received further accolades from NatWest, Orange and HSBC. On the other hand, Energyhelpline.com has performed over 100,000 energy supplier switches for its customers since launching in 2002 - saving each one an average of £200. "BeatThatQuote.com is challenging the bigger players in the price comparison sector," said a spokesman for energyhelpline.com. "We chose to partner with them to fuel the continuing success of our own business. We have branded our new offer moneyhelpline.com to create a clear and simple proposition that we can offer to existing and new energyhelpline.com customers." "This seems like a great deal for both companies," said Mike Page, spokesman for the online car insurance specialists at Hoot Car Insurance Services. "Combining motor insurance and energy switching services is bound to bring in plenty of e-business."
