UK motor insurance news 24/04/2007
Holiday gadget obsession revealed by online car insurance firmAn online car insurance company has found that we are getting less and less "me time" - even when we go on holiday. Holidays used to be a time for getting away from it all but now, according to research by swiftcover.com, we can't bear to tear ourselves away. Almost half of Brits said that they would spend an hour or more chatting on their mobile over the course of a week's holiday, while just over half said that they would prefer to be checking their email, watching DVDs or texting than just chilling out by the poolside. A spokesperson for the online car insurance firm said: "It seems we can't face missing out on the latest office or social gossip, probably fuelled by the advent of smarter and slicker technology. "Millions of Brits are now taking hundreds of pounds worth of technology on holiday with them in a move away from the traditional 'relax and unwind' holiday activities. Whatever happened to holidays being restful?" However, it isn't just gossip that many holidaymakers are keeping up with. A tenth of people from London admitted to the motor insurance firm that they take a Blackberry or computer on holiday with them in order to keep tabs on developments at work.
