The Hoot gang spoke to 25-year-old Pete from West Sussex about his love for Peugeot:
My first car was a little red Peugeot 106 1.0. I was given it by a friend who was just going to scrap it when he got a new car and it sat in my parent's driveway until  I passed my driving test. Having a car just sitting there doing nothing urged me to pass pretty quickly and in May 2006 I took the test, got the car into the garage, took out cheap Peugeot car insurance from Hoot Car Insurance Services and that same evening I was able to pick my girlfriend up from work for the first time.
The 106 was a great car but she was a bit of an old beast so we decided to call her BeebleBrox, like the alien creature from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. She was a 1991 J-Reg with a bit of damage to the paintwork and a slight jiggle when she moved but she only had 66,000 miles on the clock, passed her MOT with flying colours and I never had any trouble with her. She definitely had a lot of character and it was sad when I had to say goodbye to her for need of a slightly bigger, smoother, more comfortable car. Being a fairly old motor I considered sending her to the scrap yard in the sky but I just couldn't do it. Despite the fact that she was in such good condition, I had a feeling that Beeble's time wasn't just yet up so we found another new driver to take her off our hands and also benefit from cheap young driver car insurance. But my relationship with Peugeot did not end there. Having grown so familiar with the workings of my 106 and pleased as punch with the low cost car insurance I was getting from Hoot, I decided that I would upgrade to a Peugeot 306. We looked at red 306s but decided we wanted a complete change, we looked at white 306s but decided that they are too hard to keep clean, we looked at silver 306s but decided we wanted more character, and eventually we decided on blue – any shade that met all of our specifications. After another few weeks of travelling to dealerships, taking test drives and haggling we settled on a light blue S-Reg Peugeot 306 with a plush interior, not so many miles on the clock and an all-round good feel about her. She was named Penelope, Penelope the Peugeot. A few weeks after we got her in April 2007, Penelope carried us on our first big road trip to Cornwall. She took us from the Eden Project to St Ives and home again and didn't splutter or clunk once. This was a lovely, comfortable and completely stress-free trip which admittedly wouldn't have been quite so pleasant in good old Beeblebrox.
She is now my pride and joy. My girlfriend says that I am tenacious when it comes to cleaning Penelope; I can't stand a dirty windscreen and make sure I Hoover her out and take her for a trip to the carwash at least every fortnight. I am more than happy with her for the moment and when it comes to upgrading again in another few years I can safely say that I will be heading for the Peugeot ads again.
