No horsing around for VolkswagenHoot Car Insurance Services thought that it's worth looking at the relationship between Volkswagen and the Blenheim International Horse Trials and, as far as we know, there is no horseplay involved! Although early methods of transportation were dominated by the presence of the horse - either riding on horse back or riding in carts and coaches pulled by horses - Volkswagen has decided to forge a connection between horses and modern transportation by sponsoring one of the country's most prominent equestrian events set in the stunning grounds of Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Travelling to and from equestrian events while trawling heavy trailers, horse boxes and mounds of equipment can take its toll on any motor vehicle and this is where the Touareg comes in. Just as this Volkswagen model showed its suitability for towing and launching boats at this year's Cowes show, it is hoping to demonstrate its capabilities at the European Championships at Blenheim. As well as being able to tow up to 3.5 tonnes, the Touareg can meet the demands of transporting all sorts of horse tack and equestrian paraphernalia with its luggage capacity of a sizeable 555 litres that extends to a massive 1,570 once the seats are dropped down. Volkswagen describe it as a premium 4x4, combining first-class on-road comfort and performance with outstanding off-road capabilities. And it must be said that is performs like an absolute dream off-road, responding to bumpy, muddy fields with tremendous forward-thinking. The 4x4Motion delivers power to the wheel that is most in need, ensuring that the most difficult terrain can be negotiated with ease. The New Touareg has even more to offer than the original Touareg with its updated headlights, distinctive grille, front wings and bumper and the Altitude. The most prominent of the New Touareg range boasts a striking sports body kit with twin chrome exhaust and tinted windows. Excellent safety features include the advanced new ABSplus system which can cut braking distances by 20% on uneven ground. Also, the improved Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) now offers Active Rollover Protection (ARP), rain brake support and understeer control logic to allow sharper turning. Not only do VW offer all this in just one motor vehicle but they also offer fantastic deals on Volkswagen car insurance. For more information about the Touareg visit, www.volkswagen.co.uk.
Now in its 18th year, the 2007 Blenheim International Horse Trials are taking place from 6th-9th September. The first phase, dressage, will take place on Thursday and Friday, cross-country trials on a timed course around the palace woodlands are set aside for Saturday, then a show jumping finale will round this year's event up on Sunday. Since the European Championships in 2005, VW has showcased the Touareg at Blenheim. Back then, Volkswagen provided 14 Touareg's to move officials around the event both on and off-road and it is back as a proud sponsor at this year's event.
