An astonishing number of UK motorists risk scuppering their chances of ever receiving car insurance for young drivers, if a recent study into people's propensity to drink drive is anything to go by.
Despite the well-known dangers of drink driving, a shocking 14% of people told comparison website confused.com that they planned to drink drive this Christmas.
Indeed, in addition to the fact that drink driving can be deadly, when caught it can lead to convicted motorists paying around 40% more for car insurance for young drivers, with some unlikely to be able to get cover at all.
A spokesperson from Confused.com commented, "If the worst has already happened, and a person finds themselves with a conviction, then it's important they shop around to make sure they're getting the best deal on their car insurance. The hike will vary from insurer to insurer and they may find they're able to save money by comparing all the options available to them."
Worryingly, the survey also revealed that many car insurance for young drivers policyholders were unaware of drink driving limits.
