Tattoos and young driver car insurance

accessories for the fashion-conscious

Time to ponder tattoos and young driver car insurance. Maybe the two don't seem to have that much in common at first glance - but tattoos, just like a young person's car, are as much a statement and expression of identity as any favourite music band or piece of fashion clothing.

This is what got me thinking and researching about tattoos and the type of car cover important to young people. Tattooing is now seen as a must-have accessory for any self-respecting youth. And even if they haven't paid for one yet, it's on their mind - just like car insurance.

Although a car insurance policy may not seem that cool or kitsch, in fact it bears all the hallmarks of a tattoo, or any other important trend or fashion that young people aspire to. Simply, no smart or casual, modern-dressed young driver would dare to be seen driving without one.

Interestingly, tattoos have an edge over car insurance - they have been badges of honour for centuries, even millennia, while car insurance can only count itself as an accessory for a few decades.

But like tattoos, car cover has staying power. Once you are covered with a policy, there's no rubbing it out. It can be a hassle to cancel, although perhaps not as awkward as erasing a tattoo - but a great policy, like great body art, can cover a multitude of problems.

It may seem a tough call to think attractive tattoos and certificates of insurance might appeal equally to modern youth - but the similarities are remarkable.

First, how does a young man or woman start thinking about a tattoo or insurance? This happens when they become aware they are missing something - without it, their life is not complete.

The fact is, no car insurance means self-expression is limited - without cover, it is impossible to be seen in a vehicle - at least legally - that proves a young person has arrived in the adult world. Without a tattoo, that virtually identical self-expression is missing too.

Next, searching for the right policy or tattoo. The choice is vast - how to pick one that is appropriate? In the insurance world, there are well-known brands, niche products, cut-price deals and comparison marketplaces. Looking for tattoos can be just as daunting - back street offices with dirty needles, or clean, hospital-quality premises with sparkling credentials. And just like insurance, until it is in place, a question mark hangs over whether this new piece of cover - for the skin - is any good.

Thoughtful decisions have to be made about where to put that policy or piece of body art. Certificates should be stored in the vehicle in case young drivers are stopped by the police and asked to produce their documents. But isn't it safer to place important paperwork indoors?

It goes without saying that placement of a tattoo is also a challenging process. Should it go on an arm or upper body part, or how about a leg or the backside? It is important to take care where it is placed.

All types of people have them too - motor cover policies and body decorations. These two contrasting products span class barriers. For the lower classes, a bold tattoo displayed on an arm slung out of a sporty old BMW will do for street cred what a delicate butterfly can do adorning a pretty shoulder of a debutante sat in a classy pink Audi TT.

Everyone knows someone who's had a tattoo or insurance policy - there's no shock factor anymore and they both speak volumes about you. For some perhaps, the cheaper and smaller the better - for others, every kind of feature and intricate cover is preferred. Fancy that - tattoos and young driver car insurance are similar after all.

Digg!
