A Welsh taxi driver who stands accused of speeding well above posted limits in Newport may have a hard time explaining the incident to his young driver car insurance firm.
Indeed Tom Matthews, 34, who drives a 12-year-old Vauxhall Cavalier, is having a bit of trouble understanding the charges himself.
According to Mid and South Wales Safety Camera Partnership, he was caught speeding in a 30mph zone - at a little over 420mph.
"I drive an old Cavalier, not a jumbo jet," quipped the cabbie. "According to this I've broken the land speed record."
Matthews, who was issued the standard £60 fine and three points despite the extraordinary nature of his crime, is understandably worried about the price of his young driver car insurance in future.
Most car-related convictions tend to push up the cost of a motor insurance quote - Matthews' spectacular stunt might well price him out of the market completely.
He is reported to be challenging the penalty and considering a career in F1 racing.
