Young driver car insurance none-too-cheap for England cricketer
A cricketer is facing years of costly young driver car insurance following his conviction for drink driving. The 21-year-old, from Middlesbrough, was arrested after crashing into another car at a set of traffic lights at Yarn, near Stockton-on-Tees. When he was breathalysed, police found he was over twice the drink drive limit and charged him with drink driving. Following his conviction by Teesside Magistrates, the England bowler commented: "I am deeply sorry for what I did and there is simply no excuse for it. I acted irresponsibly." He went on to apologise to his family, friends, team mates and coaches for his behaviour, before adding: "I accept that I am a role model, especially for youngsters, and for this reason I am particularly sorry about what happened. "My cricket career is extremely precious to me and I am determined not to waste the amazing opportunity that I have been given." The court imposed a 20 month driving ban on the young cricketer, as well as ordering him to pay £50 in costs. Mike Page, spokesman for the young driver car insurance company Hoot Car Insurance Services, commented: "Drink driving was a silly thing for him to do, especially considering his position in the England cricket team. "Even though the prospect of expensive motor insurance quotes probably won't have had too much effect on him, it sounds like he has learnt from the experience."
