Hoot young driver insurance comes with theft tracking and accident alert

A young driver insurance policy from Hoot comes complete with a telematics device, known as a Clear Box, which is fitted to your car so that we are able to instigate theft tracking should your vehicle be stolen, and accident alerts if your vehicle is involved in an accident.

Theft tracking included in your young driver car insurance
If you believe your car has been stolen, the first thing you should do is contact your local police to obtain a crime reference number.

You should then contact the stolen car monitoring service provided by our partner Group 4 Security (G4S) on 033 00 45 00 45. G4S will confirm your details, record the crime reference number and begin to monitor the location of your car. They will also liaise with the police as appropriate.

Hopefully, your car will be located and recovered, and G4S will notify you, and us, of its location so that we may retrieve it. If your car is recovered but is damaged, or is not recovered at all, please contact the claims department on 033 00 45 00 45 for further assistance.

Accident alert as standard on Hoot car insurance for young drivers
Having a Clear Box fitted to your car means that operatives in our technical centre are able to assess if your car has been involved in an accident. The telematics device is able to measure any 'G' forces (gravitational force) experienced by your vehicle and we will receive notification of such impacts shortly after they occur - subject to the availability of GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications). Should any "G" force readings exceed a certain level we will assume that your car has been involved in an accident.

In these circumstances we will call on your mobile phone (if your car is stationary) to ensure that you are OK and try to assist you to get back on the move. If we are unable to contact you and we can see that your car is moving we will assume that you are unharmed and that you do not require immediate assistance.

If we are unable to contact you and your car is stationary we will assess all the circumstances relating to the incident, such as the location, time of day and force of the impact.

Having assessed all the circumstances, and if we think it is appropriate, we will attempt to contact the emergency services and request that they attend*.

* Please note, we are not able to guarantee that the emergency services will attend in these circumstances.
